we ate it in the marshalls when the power was wonky. the texture is a little tougher than you'd want cake to be. if you eat it straight after the nuking, and cover it with icecream, it's not too bad, but it has a closer consistency to that of a chewy brownie. and if you nuke it too much, it's crazy tough. like jerky.

Edwin, this cake frightens me. I think I'll take Funfetti boxed cake over this any day :-) But I'm interested to see how the experiment goes!

Not the best nomenclature choice on my part, but yes, let them sit to reach room temp (not get colder). Would it matter with something as simple as a bunch of schtuff in a mug about to be nuked? :P

Jane - sometimes you do let your eggs sit out for a little bit so that they're not chilly. You can casually chill while your eggs unchill.

Shouldn't one's eggs and milk always be chilled assuming they're stored in a fridge? Or do you mean "chill" as in "hang out in a casual setting"?

I've tried it. Not horrible in a pinch. Use half the egg amount that they call for (which involves wasting a half an egg, but the proportions are seriously off otherwise).
